EDIBLE OIL PROCESSING
Product-to-product heat recovery for refining and deodorization
Compact welded exchangers recover heat from hot refined oil to preheat incoming oil, reducing steam and cooling-water demand.
Evaluate Heat RecoveryDeodorization heat recovery
Recover heat from oil leaving the high-temperature process
Deodorization commonly operates around 240–260°C under deep vacuum. Hot deodorized oil contains significant recoverable energy. A product-to-product exchanger transfers this heat to the incoming oil before final steam heating.
- Lower steam demand
- Lower cooling-water demand
- Compact skid layout
- Low product inventory
- Welded construction without elastomer gaskets
Utility impact
Effective heat recovery can reduce fuel and steam consumption across the deodorization unit. Actual savings depend on plant capacity, temperature program and existing heat integration.
Close temperature approachMaximizes sensible-heat recovery between hot and cold oil streams.
Compact hold-upReduces valuable product inventory inside the exchanger.
High-temperature serviceWelded plate pack avoids gasket limitations.
Sanitary material options316L, 254 SMO and other project-specific materials.
Design factors
Viscosity changes strongly with temperature
Oil viscosity, pressure drop, residence time, allowable shear, fouling, cleaning method and product cross-contamination risk must be evaluated across the complete temperature profile.
